About Us

HISTORY

 

RWIR Federated was founded in March 1950. In 2006, it became affiliated with the Republican Women's Network and the name was changed to Republican Women of Indian River (RWIR). In April 2009, the club received its first charter from the Republican Party of Florida. RWIR is one of the oldest and largest Republican women's clubs in Florida.

MEMBERSHIP

RWIR membership is renewed yearly, starting December 1st. Members must provide proof of Republican registration, fill out a membership form, choosing one of three levels of membership and indicating the volunteer activities that they wish to participate in. Members receive a monthly newsletter.

ORGANIZATION

Members' business meeting takes place each year in November, where the election of the RWIR Executive Board takes place. RWIR's Board consists of President, 1st and 2nd Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, 1st and 2nd Assistant Treasurer, Past President, and State Committeewoman, that meets monthly.

MONTHLY MEETINGS

Lunch meetings are held each month. Members and guests must make reservations to attend the luncheons. The monthly guest speakers bring educational programs on varied relevant topics.

ACTIVITIES

RWIR sponsors a local scholarship program each spring for graduating high school student(s). The club provides American flags placed on the two Vero Beach main bridges on patriotic holidays. RWIR annually participates in a variety of other community outreach projects. Members are encouraged to be involved in club activities. Members are encouraged to be knowledgeable and involved in local, state and federal matters, and take advantage of election and training activities that reflect the values and ideals of the Republican Party.
